STRANGE STORIES, December 1940
An issue of the relatively short-lived (13 issues) “Thrilling Group” pulp that competed with Weird Tales and some of the horror pulps. While never a great magazine, Strange Stories remains collectable because it featured yarns by such genre heavyweights as Robert Bloch, Henry Kuttner, Seabury Quinn, August Derleth, C. L. Moore, Hugh B.Cave, and other WT regulars. In recent years it has become even more popular, with high-grade copies of select issues selling for $1000 and up. This one’s condition: Good Plus to Very Good Minus. It has no major defects but is definitely well used. Closed edge tears to front and back covers. Lightly faded spine has a quarter-inch chip out of head. Text block is very lightly yellowed and quite supple. A perfectly decent copy that will make an acceptable hole-filler unless or until you find a better one—which, of course, will cost you a whole lot more than this one.
