DETECTIVE TALES, October 1937

In the Popular Publications string, among the many crime pulps, Detective Tales was second only to Dime Detective in longevity and popularity. This issue contains the first installment of a short-lived but excellent Norbert Davis series about Judge Benjamin Martin. Spider chronicler Norvell W. Page is also on hand, and old-school pulpster Ray Cummings contributes three of the issue’s 12 stories: one bylined to his own name, one to Gabriel Wilson, and one to Ray King. Great masked-gunman cover by Tom Lovell. Condition: Near Fine. Fundamentally nice copy with reading crease and very minor edge wear to covers. Text block is off-white with lightly yellowed “halo.”
