“B” MOVIES, rare 1973 first edition

New York: Curtis Books, 1973. Mass-market paperback. First edition. Don Miller’s chronicle of the great second features produced during Hollywood’s Golden Age is hands down the best book on the subject written to date: a one-stop-shopping compendium that covers literally hundreds of low-budget films made between 1933 and 1945. The first edition (there was a second paperback edition in the late ’80s) went largely unnoticed in its day and is now a highly coveted collector’s item. At this writing there are only two copies being offered on the internet, both are priced at $90 and neither is as sharp as this one. Condition: Fine, lightly used if at all. Ever so slight age darkening of the spine. NOTE: This book was notorious for having been ineffectively glued during binding, and most surviving copies in private hands have loose covers and/or pages. This copy is tightly bound and will hold up under multiple readings and consultations.
