AMAZING STORIES, January 1941, John Carter, high-grade

The January 1941 Amazing featured the return of Edgar Rice Burroughs after 14 years. But “John Carter and the Giant of Mars” didn’t read like the old ERB to many fans, and for decades there were persistent rumors that someone else had written the story. Eventually Edgar’s son John Coleman fessed up and claimed authorship. Nonetheless, this issue remains high on the list of must-have for ERB collectors. The cover by J. Allen St. John is a big part of the appeal. Condition: Fine to Very Fine. Only specific defect is tiny hole in front cover where bottom staple poked through; barely noticable. Otherwise a clean, tight, bright copy with just a hint of edgewear. Text block is off-white and supple. Overall a real beauty.
