ADVENTURE, June 3, 1918

Strong issue of “the Dean of the Pulps,” as it was called in a 1935 Time article. Cover by R. Farrington Elwell. It should be pointed out that most 1918 issues are very scarce, for two reasons: (1) many copies were sent overseas to American serving in the AEF during World War I, and (2) many old newspapers and magazines were burned during the 1919 flu epidemic before they were thought to carry the deadly germs. This copy is a solid Very Good Plus, maybe a little better. There are some small abrasions on the top left side of the front cover (see scan), but overall this is a clean, tight magazine with very lightly yellowed but supple text block.
