RIO KID WESTERN, August 1940

Early issue (Number Five) of this popular, long-running (1939-53) Western pulp from the “Thrilling Group.” The Rio Kid novels were written by divers hands; this one is by C. William Harrison. A series gimmick was having the Kid interact with real-life figures from Western history; in this novel Rio gets involved with the notorious Doc Holliday. Most issues of Rio Kid Western are fairly common, but the early ones have become increasingly scarce. Condition: Fine, marred by some short closed tears on the front-cover edge (see scan). Complete, brightly colored spine. Text block is evenly yellowed but supple; no chips, tears, or flaking. A very nice copy.
