THE RINGER, 1929 Edgar Wallace playscript, 1st edition

Mystery writer Edgar Wallace authored a good many plays as well, but none was more popular (or important) than The Ringer, based on his novel The Gaunt Stranger. It was produced in 1926 by Gerald du Maurier and opened in London. A phenomenal success, The Ringer subsequently had five movie adaptations and Wallace wrote a new novel from the play itself. This is the 1929 Samuel French first edition of the play, complete with photos of the sets used in the original stage production. A VG/VG+ copy. Slightly worn with some minor soiling to covers. Occasional light foxing, with a few grubby pages slightly torn in the upper margins. Annotated by previous owner (apparently one of the actors in a non-theatrical production) on the last blank page. An incredibly rare piece.
