After years in limbo Mike Hammer returned to the scene in this Spillane “comeback” novel, made into a movie the following year with the Mick playing his own creation. As the story begins, Mike is an alcoholic headed for complete mental collapse, believing himself responsible for the death of his secretary seven years before. Condition: Fine in Very Good, non-price clipped jacket. The book itself is very sharp, tight and clean (most copies have at least some soiling to the bright yellow cloth) with no defects. The jacket has rubbing to the front panel (see scan) and some nicks (but no paper loss) to spine head and heel. Back cover has a quarter-inch closed tear on top edge. Overall a nice collectible copy.
