Key issue in this long-running “Thrilling Group” hero pulp. In addition to marking a turn toward more mature subject matter—here the Phantom fights drug pushers targeting teenagers—this issue’s novel finds Richard Van Loan’s long-suffering girlfriend Muriel Havens finally learning that her boy toy is actually the Phantom Detective. Condition: Very Good, maybe Very Good Plus if you don’t look too closely at the back cover, which has a badly chipped edge. Front cover and spine are complete with minor wear. Text block is off-white to lightly yellowed and quite supple. Note: grease-pencilled “A” under logo is more apparent in the scan than on the book itself.
