DETECTIVE TALES, December 1935

First-year issue of this long-running Popular Publications pulps. It was one of the company’s last titles to fold and maintained a high average quality in its fiction throughout. Author lineup is top-notch, as you can see from cover scan. Tom Lovell supplied the cover painting, as he did for most issues from this title’s first two years. Condition: But for one significant flaw—a two-inch closed tear on the front cover, sealed with a fingernail-sized piece of tape on the inside—this copy would easily grade Fine/Very Fine. It’s clean, tight, and glossy with complete spine and bright white back cover. Text block is off-white with a hint of yellowing at the extremities. This magazine is Popular Publications at its mid-Thirties best, a terrific representation of the company’s output.
