ASTOUNDING STORIES, April 1934, key issue, high grade
A must-have issue for collectors of this greatest of science-fiction pulps. It contains the opening installment of Jack Williamson’s classic space-opera “The Legion of Space.” Former Astounding editor Harry Bates contributes “A Matter of Size,” one of the best examples of the shrinking-man theme. Nat Schachner’s “He from Procyon” is an early “thought-variant” story about a god-like alien who visits Earth and involves himself in the lives of several humans. Other stories by early SF favorites Donald Wandrei and Stanton A. Coblentz. And then the first installment of Charles Fort’s “Lo!”, a book-length collection of unexplained phenomena that became a cult favorite. Cover by the great Howard V. Brown. Condition: About Fine. Clean white covers, a small closer tear in the front cover’s bottom edge (see scan). The spine is slightly bubbled (a bindery error) but complete. Text block is off-white and supple. Overall a lovely copy of an important SF pulp issue.
