AIR ADVENTURES, December 1939, first issue, Nazi pilot cover

The first issue of this Ziff-Davis air-war pulp hits the stands just as Hitler invaded Poland and started World War II. The magazine was rushed into production to take advantage of the conflict, with H. W. McCauley enlisted to paint this dramatic cover of a Nazi pilot being blown out of the cockpit of his Messerschmidt. Stories by aviation specialists Orlando Rigoni, Arch Whitehouse, Chuck Verral, Edward Churchill, and more. Condition: Just a wee hint of fading to spine, otherwise Fine Plus with off-white to lightly yellowed text block. Clean, tight, glossy—in short, a beauty.
