WONDER STORIES, May 1931, 1st story by John Wyndham

The most outstanding feature of this Hugo Gernsback pulp is “Worlds to Barter,” the first published story by then-young British writer John Benyon Harris, who would become better known as John Wyndham (author of The Day of the Triffids and The Midwich Cuckoos, among many other memorable yarns).  Another well-regarded story in this issue is Jack Williamson’s “Through the Purple Cloud.” Condition: Near Fine, with two caveats. First is the tape pull that spoils an otherwise nice front cover (see scan). The second, less noticeable flaw is a faint store stamp on the cover’s blue side.  Otherwise, a very sharp copy: complete and bright spine, very lightly yellowed but supple pages, shiny staples, clean back cover.  Overall an eminently satisfying piece with considerable SF historical significance.
