WESTERN FICTION, April 1935, rare early “Marvel” pulp title

This is the fourth issue of an early pulp magazine issued by Martin Goodman, whose publishing empire not only included the “Red Circle” pulp group but Timely Publications, the forerunner of Marvel Comics. Goodman’s first several pulps were Westerns that initially concentrated on reprints due to his incredibly low rates. This number of Western Fiction reprints “Hell’s Desert,” a 1933 novel by Whispering Smith creator Frank H. Spearman. Condition: Fine, which is unusual for these early Goodman pulps. It’s a nice clean copy with shiny staples and only slightly yellowed paper. Rare in any condition, especially so in high grade.
