STARTLING STORIES, November 1948, classic Arthur C. Clarke novel
The book-length novel in this issue is Clarke’s “Against the Fall of Night,” later revised and expanded and published in hard covers in 1956 as The City and the Stars. It’s widely regarded as one of the best things Clarke ever wrote. Backup stories by Ray Bradbury, Jack Vance, A. E. van Vogt, John D. MacDonald, Frank Belknap Long, and Robert Moore Williams make this as an exceptionally strong issue from a period when most of them were strong. Condition: Minor moisture bloat and trimmed front-cover edge, otherwise Fine with off-white paper.
