Jonathan Latimer, THE LADY IN THE MORGUE, 1st ed.

Garden City, New York: Doubleday Crime Club, 1936. Octavo, cloth in dust jacket. First edition. The third of Latimer’s “screwboiled” Bill Crane mysteries is also considered the best. It was a top seller for Doubleday’s Crime Club imprint, going into multiple hardcover printings, and was made into a well-regarded 1938 “B” movie by Universal Pictures. About Fine in an As New facsimile dust jacket. The book’s spine has just a touch of sun fading, which is the only thing that keeps me from grading it Fine or Fine Plus. (Of course, the spine is hidden from view by the jacket.) Otherwise this is a very handsome copy at a righteous price.
