DETECTIVE FICTION WEEKLY, September 10, 1932. Dunn, Gardner, et al

Nice representative sample of this long-running Munsey pulp, launched in 1926 as Flynn’s and later called Flynn’s Detective Fiction before becoming Detective Fiction Weekly. Arguably the fourth most influential crime pulp (after Black Mask, Dime Detective, and Detective Story Magazine), it had a stable of the genre’s most skilled practitioners, including those featured in this issue: Erle Stanley Gardner, Judson P. Philips (aka Hugh Pentecost), J. Allan Dunn, Edward Parrish Ware, and Robert H. Rhode.  Condition: Very Good Plus.  A clean, tight copy marred only by some cover creases (see scan). Spine is complete and bright, overhangs are complete.  Text block is off-white and very supple, with shiny staples.  Overall a sharp copy with an excellent sampling of the title’s best and most prolific authors.
